Twice as nice

Delia's friend Mary Catherine came over to play one morning last week. I think this was the closest I have yet seen Delia play with someone, rather than just near someone. The girls had a great time, and so did I. My fears about life with two kids started to ebb a bit. I will be outnumbered for most of the day, but it is wonderful to listen to little ones laughing at each other.

Bring me some carbs, and don't forget the sauce!

We should strive to pass down the truly important traditions to our children.

I wanna be a cowgirl

Delia donned her horsey tights and pink cowgirl boots to head to Nathan's for playgroup this morning. Even though she was happy to see her friends, Delia seemed content to keep to herself today, at least more than usual.

Go, Pats! (Pass the crayons.)

Multi-tasking: coloring dragons while watching the Patriots move on to the Super Bowl.

No, it can't be...snow!

Well, it looks like we should have moved to Texas or Florida if we really wanted to outrun the snow.

It snowed for a bit here this morning, and the neighborhood kids made the most of it. So did the local newscasters. We had live coverage of people driving on almost-wet roads, kids trying to make angels in a 1/4 inch of snow, and "heavy snowfall" from Birmingham to Montgomery. My favorite tip from the TV guys was, "If you go outside, wear a hat and gloves."

Delia enjoyed it while it lasted.

These mittens are from last year's snowsuit. I hadn't even thought to buy her any new ones this year.

Daddy made this snowman.

The little kids next door gathered snow from every yard in the neighborhood to make these snowmen.

Read, Uncah!

Uncle Steve came to visit last night on his way home from Mississippi. Delia had a great time with her "Uncah See." I think poor Uncah See was worn out, though, by the time he left this afternoon.

First, Delia said, "Read!"

Then she said, "More!"

"More!"

Then she said, "Doh!"

Then we had lunch at Panera, where Delia wore Uncah See's Patriots hat. She said, "I love that Tom Brady as much as turkey and cheese on wheat!" (Just kidding.)

So darn proud of myself

I realize this is Delia's blog, but I just have to toot my own horn in this post. Yesterday I took a sewing class and made this:

Ya gotta love the Cracker Barrel

While Delia played in the yard, I usually stood around or sat on the ground. Not anymore! David got me these great rockers for the holidays. I think they will look beautiful on the wrap-around porch I know we will have one day. In the meantime, they make a relaxing place to hang out while Delia runs around the yard. I am especially pleased that they came from the Cracker Barrel!

The idea was that I would sit and Delia would play, but she wants to rock, too.

Delia and Bubbe

"Get your paws off my rocker!"

Play-Doh days

Delia is just getting to the point where she wants to play with some of the toys I remember from childhood. Last week, Bubbe bought her some Play-Doh. She loved it, and I am looking forward to Delia mastering this fine art form so we can move up to the Play-Doh barber shop, the Play-Doh kitchen, etc.
